Welcome to the Hallam ’89 Theatre Club website.
As our name suggests, the club started life in 1989 following the merger of two longstanding Sheffield Amdram Societies (Hallam Theatre Club and Prism), so we are now putting the final touches to our plans for our 37th season.
Our two previous Murder Mysteries put on at Crookes Club have been very favourably received so by popular demand we are preparing another Murder Mystery soon - again written and directed by Steve Holmes, one of our members. A good time is promised for all (except our poor murder victim!) but don't forget to book your tickets early to make sure you don't miss out on the pie and pea supper, which has been praised as highly as the play itself! Ever since its beginnings the club has had an educational remit and this year's production followed the success of The Railway Children in 2021, Fantastic Mr Fox in 2022, Swallows and Amazons in 2023 and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime in 2025. Our most recent production, Women of Steel, was an original work by a Sheffield writer. It was performed in September 2026 at a new venue for us, Frecheville Community Centre. A big THANK YOU to Frecheville for hosting us! We enjoyed it almost as much as the crowd - we heard you singing along and were glad you all enjoyed it.
Please let us know if you'd like to be a part of our future productions, whether as an actor, musician, set-builder, costumes, or props maker or in any other capacity. Our present members range in age from 11 - 83 so there'll be room for you!
